I have always loved Valentine’s, it’s an excuse to do something special and in lockdown it’s probably even more important that we have something to look forward to. I want to immediately stress that Valentine’s shouldn’t just be about couples. It can be families, it can be self love and it can be you and the cat.
Here are my fab little finds for making the table that extra bit special. (I dressed it for four people as it was more aesthetically pleasing but there will just be me, Ben and Bojangles).
I fell in love with these Next Heart Plates when researching for Valentine’s ideas and they fit perfectly with my Made.com dinner plates. I ordered on Sunday, they arrived by Tuesday so there’s still loads of time to get them!
Honeywell Biscuits kindly sent me some of their Valentine’s biscuit collection so for decoration I popped a little biscuit and one of our bookmark thank you cards from our wedding onto the plate to act as a place setting.
I teamed up with my faves The Flower Lounge for the flowers because you cannot go wrong with roses, or any flowers for that matter. There is one main bouquet and a couple of posy jars, all which can be sourced from their online shop.
The tealight holders are a mixture of Sostrene Green and recycled GU pudding jars. I eat a LOT of them and have so many - they make lovely little tealight holders.
The candles were a Friday night Sainsburys shop find. Rock N Roll eh? They are such beautiful colours, I couldn’t resist. I sourced the heart bunting from Ginger Ray - there are loads of Etsy stockists with cheaper and quicker delivery costs than the main website.
M&S Rose Prosecco was a lockdown summer find - it’s delicious and a bargain at £10. The rest of the items are all bits and bobs I have around the house, so have a good look around your house and don’t be afraid to steal stuff from other rooms.
So even if it’s just you and the cat, make your Valentine’s day all about LOVE.
