Recently I put a call out on my Instagram stories for some photo frame recommendations. I didn’t get many responses answering the question but I did get a lot of people asking me to share the answers! So I thought I would do some of my own research into the best places to get frames online because we all need more gallery walls in our lives!
First up it was harder than I thought - A LOT of places are either not open or are out of stock. In “normal” times I’m a big fan of popping into places like Wilko’s for the simple black frames or the Range for more quirky colours and designs. These options are both still available but they didn’t have any of the sizes I wanted in stock.
I found a couple of options on Ikea’s website including the LERBODA frames which are new in. They weren’t available for delivery when I last looked but now they are! Priced at £4 and £6 they are an absolute bargain so go go go! I also love the new RAMSBORG frames which will add a classy feel to any space, these are more expensive but you can definitely tell.
After much deliberation and lots of virtual shopping baskets, I went with these Dunelm Oversized Mount Frames in both black and white, because I was drawn to the art gallery feel of the big white mounts. These were £6 each and I’m really pleased with how they look. I need to add that the delivery took a while though which is understandable in this times - just wanted to point it out in case you’re in a rush!
A favourite thing of mine to do is just prop frames up against walls on the floor and on furniture, partly because I am running out of wall space but mainly because I love how it fills otherwise uninspiring spaces in rooms. Obviously I appreciate this maybe an issue with small children and animals so do this with caution!
Desenio is another great place to not only get cheap prints but also really nice frames. I worked with Desenio a few years ago and ordered some prints and frames as part of a collaboration, and their offering has gotten so much better since then. They do everything from your standard black frame, to metallics, to these gorgeous wooden options. I have linked each picture so if any take your fancy you can click straight through. Some of the frames aren’t real glass, as I found from previous experience, which will obviously be reflected in the price so make sure you read the descriptions if you’re after the real deal.
Lastly I teamed up with Inkifi to showcase a few of their different frames which are perfect for getting those photos off your phone and onto the walls. Full disclosure these items for gifted but I am giving an honest review and would never recommend anything I wouldn’t use in my own home.
I’d been eyeing up the Moments Frame for a while now and at £119 I appreciate it’s quite expensive. The quality is outstanding though and you get 52 images in one frame. If you added up 52 of the Dunelm £6 frames then this is a lot cheaper. It’s also neatly contained so if you don’t have a lot of wall space it can create an impact all on it’s own. It also can be propped up rather than hung if you’re not allowed to drill into walls etc. I chose to upload 52 of my favourite images from our honeymoon as a memory to keep forever and I know I will take it with me everywhere I live.
If the Moments Frame isn’t the one for you, Inkifi also do loads of other products. From photo-strips (I have bought so many of these in the past) to Polaroid style prints (also bought many of these before) there will be something for everyone.
I was also sent the Photo Tiles to try out and review. These are stick-able frames which are a great alternative to hanging photos with nails - there are A LOT of holes in our walls. Inkifi say they “Can be stuck and removed with no wall damage to wall paper or paint.” I haven’t tried removing mine yet to test if this is true but I will let you know!
I went for personal prints here too, to mix in amongst the various wall art around the house. 2019 was such a special year for me and in light of everything that’s happening in the world right now I just want to be surrounded by lovely memories and familiar faces. The great thing about the photo tiles are you can literally stick them anywhere. I’ve spread them out all over my house but they also look good in a more formatted way together too.
Another lovely thing Inkifi are doing at the moment is offering free “Thinking of You” cards to send to someone you miss in lockdown. This is a lovely gesture and guaranteed to put a smile on someone’s face. Click here to send your free card today.
So I hope that has helped a little with sourcing frames in lockdown and beyond. Happy shopping!
